Group B burns: full-thickness and deep dermal burns

The management of  the burn wound remains the same, irre spective of  the size of  the injury . The burn needs to be cleaned, and the size and depth need to be assessed. For full-thickness burns and deep partial-thickness burns an escharotomy may be required. All b ut the very smallest of  full-thickness burns are likely to involve excision. Smaller deep dermal burns of intermittent depth may require 48 hours to declare but will require appropriate dressing management.
