MICROSCOPIC ANATOMY OF THE STOMACH AND DUODENUM

The gastric surface epithelial cells are mucus producing. Mucus-secreting glands are found also in the duodenum. The specialised cells of the stomach (parietal and chief cells) are found in the gastric crypts ( Figure 67.3 ). The stomach also has numerous endocrine cells.
