ANAL FISSURE Deﬁnition

An anal ﬁssure (synonym: ﬁssure- in - ano ) is a longitudinal ulcer in the anoderm of the distal anal canal ( Figure 80.17 ), which extends from the anal verge proximally towards, but not beyond, the dentate line.
