Olecranon fractures may be displaced or undisplaced. Undisplaced fractures with <2 /uni00A0 mm gap or step at the articular surface can be treated non-operatively . In displaced fractures the extensor mechanism is interrupted and the articular surface requires anatomical reduction and stable fixation to allow early movement. Fixation may comprise K-wire and figure-of-eight tension band wiring or plate fixation. In multifragmentary fractures or fractures associated with an elbow dislocation, increased stability is required with the use of a plate and screws. Olecranon fractures
