Renal transplantation in children
Renal transplantation in children
In children with established renal failure, kidney transplanta tion facilitates their growth and development and markedly improves the quality of life of the child and their parents. In young children there is often a size mismatch between the donor kidney , which may be from an adult, and the recipient. In this case the kidney is transplanted intraperitoneally with anastomosis of the renal artery to the distal aorta and the renal vein to the inferior vena cava or common iliac vein.
