INTRODUCTION
The last 50 years have seen great strides made to reduce both morbidity and mortality from burn injuries. The coming years will see a better understanding of the control of physiology along with improvements in reconstruction and rehabilitation and utilising new technology . A large burn injury will have a significant e ff ect on the patient’s family and friends and the patient’s future. The importance of multidisciplinary care needs to be stressed for the adequate and e ff ective care of the burn patient.
