• A number of neuroendocrine neoplasms occur in the duode - num. It is a common site for primary gastrinoma (Zollinger– Ellison syndrome). Non-functioning neuroendocrine tumours (usually called carcinoid tumours) also occur but uncommonly in comparison with the ileum.
