Premalignant lesions Extramammary Paget’s disease (intraepidermal adenocarcinoma)

This occurs in cutaneous sites that are rich in apocrine glands such as the axillae and the genital and perianal regions. Approximately 25% are associated with an underlying Sir James Paget , 1814–1899, surgeon, St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London, UK. or invasive adenocarcinoma. Early skin changes are subtle and may present as an eczematous lesion or intertrigo. Surgi - cal excision forms the basis of treatment, with up to 20% demonstrating invasive disease after pathology assessment ( Figure 45.27 ).
